Chandrachur Mukherjee is a Music Composer who is a Pianist, Keyboardist, Lyricist and a Vocalist who also plays the blues harp and the guitars as well as many other musical instruments. In Hindustani classical music, Chandrachur has been groomed as a Vocalist in the Patiala Gharana. He is also proficient in Rabindrasangeet, having learnt from Dakshini, the famous Rabindrasangeet Gurukul.
Early in his career, Chandrachur has been associated closely with bands like Rainbow, Zogasta, Karma (Where he used to arrange the music) and Bhoomi. He has also performed with Shankar Mahadevan and Late Shri Ram Kumar Chattopadhaya in Various soirees and albums.
He has also worked with Pandit Bickram Ghosh for his films like Hathat Nirar Janyo, Nil RajarDeshe etc. and also in his band Rhythmscape.
While singing and performing on stage, both in India and abroad, he usually composes, arranges, and even plays the instruments himself, for both Indian and Western music. He can foray effortlessly between Eastern ∧ Western genres of music, fusion being his forte.
He has scored title tracks of several T.V. serials (such as "Sange Indrani, Aloukik Rahashya, and others), tele-films, documentaries, jingles and ad- films. He has arranged music for Classical Fusion albums like Rhythmscape (of Bickram Ghosh), Bandish Fusion by Karma, Navaras by Pandit Tanmoy Bose and Shri GautamGhosh. His compositions include the album Acrostic RabindraSangeet albums like MomoChitteKe Je Nachey by Dr. Partho Ghosh, Shri Mohan Singh and SoumitraChatterjee, BiswaBharaPran by ShriRanoGuhathakurta, Chaitali Das and others. He has both arranged the music and sung in these albums.
Chandrachur has composed and arranged music for MamataShanker Ballet Troupe (Amritasya Putra), Saphhire Creation (Indian Erotica), Euphony (Anubhav) etc.
He has won several awards and prizes for his music such as "Outstanding Young Person of Kolkata" by Jaycee Creed North Calcutta Junior Chambers, "Best Music Director in Dance Drama" by L.O.L.T Lions. He has also been adjudged the "Best Keyboardist" INN.I.S Musical Bonanza. M.D.T.S.S has awarded him the "Best Performer of the Year" for the year 2002.
In the recent Rabindrasangeet album, "Jetechey Bahiya Sushomoy" released by Times Music, the genius of Chandrachur is very much evident. His music score takes the album to a different level altogether. He has merged Western classical with Hindustani classical along with Jazz & Blues in a very smooth fashion. The music compositions are based on the basic raag of the song and the final effect is very pleasing indeed!
"E Mon" is a Bangla Fusion Album, where Bengali Modern songs have been placed alongside World Music. Lyrics, Composition and Music Arrangement are by Chandrachur Mukherjee who also sings the songs. A myriad of Indian & Western Classical instruments, as well as pop and folk ones have been used to create different moods, and several genres of music have come together in this album too present a complete musical experience for the listeners.
